“Honor has unveiled its new Honor Watch 5, a smartwatch that adopts the Apple Watch’s design but is expected to be much more affordable.”
For the past few days, Berlin has been hosting the IFA trade show, focused on consumer electronics. This event offers manufacturers the opportunity to showcase their latest innovations. Honor took advantage of the occasion to present its MagicPad 2 tablet, the Magic V3 foldable smartphone, and the MagicBook Art 14 PC.
During the IFA in Berlin, the Chinese manufacturer also unveiled its latest smartwatch, the Honor Magic Watch 5.
As the name suggests, this new watch succeeds last year’s Honor Watch 4. It retains a similar design, featuring a square case with rounded edges and a digital crown, elements reminiscent of the Apple Watch design.
A bigger and brighter display
Among the new features, the Honor Magic Watch 5 boasts a larger AMOLED display—1.85 inches in diameter compared to 1.75 inches on the previous model. The screen also offers brightness up to 1000 nits, nearly double that of the Honor Watch 4.
As expected, the Honor Watch 5 includes several sensors for sports and health tracking. It features a GPS chip described as “precise” by Honor, sleep analysis, a morning summary, and comprehensive health tracking. It also monitors heart rate and blood oxygen saturation levels.
Battery Life and Performance
Honor claims that its Honor Watch 5 can run for 15 days thanks to its 480 mAh battery. However, it’s worth noting that Honor watches operate on a proprietary system, which does not allow the installation of third-party apps.
Price and Availability of the Honor Watch 5
The Honor Watch 5 will be available in three colors: black, gold, and green. The watch is expected to launch by the end of the year, though the company has yet to announce its price. For reference, the Honor Watch 4 was released last year at 150 USD, so we can expect a similar price for the Honor Watch 5, likely under 200 USD.
