Yamaha is a versatile company, with one of its specialties being electric bikes. A pioneer in the 1990s, the Japanese manufacturer has primarily focused on motors but also produces its own e-bikes. The latest generation, is returning with an update for the 2025 collection.
A new motor for the Yamaha urban bike
The most urban of Yamaha’s electric bikes is the Crosscore RC. The main update is the Yamaha PW-S2 motor, replacing the previous PW-ST. With a torque of 75 Nm compared to 70 Nm previously, it offers better performance and is now assembled in France. Moreover, it is lighter, going from 3.4 kg to 2.85 kg. As a result, the total weight drops to 23.5 kg, excluding optional fenders and luggage racks.
This motor is still paired with a 500 Wh battery and upgrades the derailleur transmission to a Shimano Cues 9-speed (replacing the Alivio). The 2025 Crosscore RC also comes in two more appealing colors compared to the original white and light green: bronze and gray. This urban e-bike is still available in three sizes: S, M, and L. It remains to be seen if it will keep its price of $2800 .
A lighter and more powerful electric gravel bike
The second model is the Yamaha Wabash RT. This electric gravel bike, similar to the Crosscore, also receives the PW-S2 motor with its increased torque, bringing its weight down to exactly 21 kg. No change in derailleur – it still features the Shimano GRX RX812 – but some components have been downgraded, such as the GRX600 shifters (vs. RX812) and RX400 brakes (vs. RX600).

Its single color option has shifted from light blue to dark gray. However, it remains unclear whether the price of $3600 will stay the same.
